BOBBY FISCHER’S PAWN SACRIFICE

About a month ago, I wrote in an article that I had watched the trailer of the movie “Pawn Sacrifice”, which is about the World Chess Championship Match – 1972 between Fischer and Spassky, and that I liked the trailer and was happy to see chess in mainstream cinema.

Today, we’re going to take a ride into ‘Fischer’s pawn sacrifice’. :) It was the tenth game of the World Championship 1972, where Fischer made a pawn sacrifice that transformed the entire position.
During the event, Spassky had all the support of the Soviet Union, what was then called the “Soviet chess machine”, while Fischer had a much less support.

But the essential thing that Fischer had was outstanding preparation.
preparationTo discuss this, and to analyse this beautiful piece of the gameIM Valeri Lilov has prepared a very instructive video for you. :) It is to honour the famous pawn sacrifice that Fischer made in that game.
You can watch the video lesson “Bobby Fischer’s pawn sacrifice” below:

WEBINAR IN DEFENSE BY IM VALERI LILOV

A first-time experience is always very special for us. In this vein, I conducted the first-ever RCA webinar on the topic “Art of Defense” (LINK).
first
Although I explained a lot of ideas and discussed defense in that webinar, many students still ask me for lessons about defense. Therefore, I thought I should provide you with what you have asked for. :)
The next RCA webinar, “Webinar in Defense”, will be conducted by IM Valeri Lilov on Saturday, 18 July at 10 a.m. New York time(check timings here: LINK).
lilov
Normally, when you have a good position, you need to put an end to your opponent’s attack, wake up, and counter-attack. But when your position is worse, you usually play defensive moves, as you’ll not have even a second to ‘breathe’.
defensive
The important thing you need to remember is that defense is an essential part of chess, just like attack. You need to get rid of the myth that defensive moves are passive moves.
Defense is just an interesting opportunity for you, where you’ll even get the chance to improve your positional play.
improve
To discuss this topic in detail and to teach you the essentials of defense in chess, Lilov will be conducting the webinar for you on 18 July. To know more details about the webinar and to sign up, click the image below:
